Civic Identity in Warrington

Welcome to Wazza has been led by Youth Focus North West working in partnership with Warrington Youth Service and Warrington Youth Zone. It explores what it means to be a young person in Warrington and how their civic identity impacts on this. Funded by National Lottery Community Fund, it is part of a five-year youth recovery project called Authoring Our Own Stories.

A group of young people have been trained to become researchers and have co-produced this creative research project. Welcome to Wazza includes the voices of 100 young people aged 13-22 across Warrington. The research - which includes a report - discusses themes such as mental health, education and support for minority groups.

Welcome to Wazza prompts decision makers and those working with young people to hear real-life perspectives and take action on how services can improve in order to enhance young people’s civic identity.
