Youth Focus North West young people are awarded a High Sheriff Award for valuable services to the community.
Young People who are part of our Youthforia and Steering Group have been awarded a High Sheriff award from the High Sheriff of Merseyside. This award was presented for the work of the group made up of young people across the North West.
Our Steering Group is made up of young people aged 11-18 from various areas of the North West and takes an equal role to our staff in planning and preparing the Youthforia group sessions.
Youthforia, a group of 50 Young people, takes place every 3 months and welcomes a diverse group of 11-18 year olds from across the region to themed events where they represent young people and the issues they are passionate about. They share practice, plan and run campaigns and develop their skills with each event focusing on a theme/issue such as gender, disability, votes @16 and Curriculum 4 Life and much more. Focused on social justice and improving the lives of their peers Youthforia members take their messages and campaigns to decision makers and politicians locally, regionally and nationally.
The prestigious award was given to the group for their work in equipping members of Youthforia to disseminate new found knowledge to their localities and communities in order to make a difference, as well as to celebrate the development of the young people’s individual skills.
